Certify to teach.

105F’s next 26+2 Hot Yoga Teacher Training will be a hybrid structure of six virtual modules (ranging from 2-40 hours each between January-June 2021) followed by a seventh, in-person module (a 10-day in-person intensive from July 9th-18th, 2021 in Chicago, Illinois). The full schedule/curriculum for this hybrid training is described below. Assuming it is safe to travel internationally and gather in-person, our plan is to hold another, second 26+2 Hot Yoga Teacher Training in Bali, Indonesia later this year.

January 7th - July 18th, 2021

*includes tuition, training materials, Original Hot Yoga Association application and initial annual registration fees, unlimited 105F remote livestream and on-demand access for the duration of the training.

In 300 hours, you will learn to teach the classic 26+2 hot yoga series. Our team of asana and anatomy experts, including Gianna Purcell, Kathy Durham and Erin Frank will provide you with the tools you need to effectively deliver a precise, informative, and therapeutic class. Alignment, benefits, and language for safely presenting the postures will be covered as well as teaching techniques and methodology, anatomy and physiology, yoga philosophy and ethics, and the business of yoga with practical application.

Schedule & Curriculum

MODULE 1 (Virtual)
Schedule: Thursday, 1/7/2021 (5-7pm CT)

Schedule: Tuesday nights starting 2/2/2021 through 6/15/2021 (6-8pm CT)

Trainees will meet weekly to analyze the series pose-by-pose and to speak the 105F Dialogue. Trainers will provide real-time feedback to identify effective usage of language and cues.  After isolating one pose at a time, he posture clinics will gradually progress into multiple-posture presentations. Skill objectives include: competent understanding of posture language and mechanics; how to guide others through the set-up, action, and exit of each of the 26 postures and 2 breathing exercises; confidence in public speaking and teaching; and constructive feedback loops.

MODULE 2 (Virtual)
Schedule: Friday, 1/8/2021 (5-8pm CT), Saturday, 1/9/21 (9-11am & 1-3pm CT), Sunday 1/10/21 (9-11am & 1-3pm CT)

This module will complement your visual and practical understanding of the human body. A series of lectures, led by 105F’s in-house anatomy specialist Erin Frank, will illuminate the significance of articulating anatomy, axial anatomy, and the nervous system in helping understand how the muscles, bones, and joints create the postures, how spinal position affords muscular continuity throughout the series, and how information flows throughout the body.

MODULE 3 (Virtual)
Schedule: Saturday, 3/20/21, Saturday 4/3/21, Saturday, 4/17/21, Saturday, 5/15/21, Sunday, 5/30/21 from 9-11am CT, 1-4p CT, & 5-8p CT

Explore what makes us tick beyond the physical movements of the body. So much of how we perceive yoga are mere gateways into what yoga allows us to experience more completely.  During this module, you will go beyond the physical and dive deep into the studies of ayurveda, koshas, chakras, vayus, pranayama, mudras, kriya and meditation.

MODULE 4 (Virtual)
Schedule: Sunday, 6/6/21 & Sunday, 6/13/21 from 9am-12pm CT & 2-4pm CT

Survey overarching theories of yoga and teacher responsibilities. Dive into the origin of the 26+2 practice and where modern postural yoga was born, where we get our theory for practicing, and how to live a yogic life — intellectualizing where we were, where we currently are, and where we are going.

MODULE 5 (Virtual)
Schedule: Sunday, 6/20/21 from 1-3pm

This module presents a straight look into the yoga business opportunities available to a certified yoga teacher.  Mike Lewis and John Marcoux, co-founders of 105F for nearly 20 years, will cover basic teaching employment, management considerations, and studio ownership concerns, using success/fail stories and aiming toward win-win scenarios.

MODULE 6 (Virtual)
Schedule: Sunday, 6/27/21 from 1-3pm

This is a feel-good presentation led by John intended to boost your mind and overall health!  In this modern era — amid an avalanche of information, a pandemic, and an abundance of adversarial energies — you are hardly alone. Like software bugs, “cognitive traps” run in your brain’s background and insidiously diminish your mental, physical, and spiritual health. Learn what the world’s foremost psychologists have proven: how these traps ensnare you and how to adjust your mental posture to escape them.

MODULE 7 (In-Person)
Schedule: Friday, 7/9/21 though Sunday, 7/18/21 from 7am-9pm daily
Location: 105F Lincoln Park (2736 N. Clark St., Chicago, IL 60614)

Teacher trainees and trainers will assemble in person!  This 10-day onsite intensive will include daily journaling, yoga ethics, corrections, teaching language, teaching methodology, practice teach and teach outs, and practicing in the hot room.  With successful completion of all previous modules and prerequisites, trainees will receive their certificate at the end of this in-person intensive.

Trainees are responsible for booking and payment of travel and accommodation.

We maintain a yogic optimism that we will be able to hold this in-person intensive as scheduled.  We also know that the status and state of the pandemic changes by the day so we, like you, will continue to closely monitor the situation.  If we feel it is not safe to travel or gather during these scheduled July dates then we will postpone or come up with an alternate solution.  If we do need to change course, we would let you know no later than 6/20/21 to give you time to make the necessary adjustments to any travel plans/other logistics.  Please note: 105F is not responsible for any cancellation fees associated with flights, accommodations, or other travel.

Where I live, 95% of the people teaching Bikram are certified by Bikram himself. When I knew that wasn't the direction I wanted to take, I put a lot of time and effort into research and soul searching to decide who I would train with.

From the start, 105F was a front runner. The second I got on the phone with Kiley I knew something special was going on with this group. Even more, she made me feel like I was the missing piece. It wasn't a sales pitch. After 30 minutes on the phone with her, we knew each other a little. She had a feeling I would be just right for the training and thoughtfully shared with me why the training might be just right for me.

I wasn't even sure I wanted to teach on the day I left for Ormond Beach. I joined the 2019 class purely on intuition. I felt like there was something I needed there. Listening to that voice has paid off every day since.

I'm 36 yrs old. I've been through a few things. Not everything. But a few things. This training was by far the most mentally, physically, and spiritually challenging thing I have ever been through. That's what makes it so special. That's why it's got something that I don't believe every training has. It's rare to find the perfect balance of push and support, of sternness (that's for you G) and tenderness, but that's what's here, that's what is provided for trainees, every step of the way.

You want a straight review of the 105F training? Five stars. Dialogue, check. Posture breakdown, check. Anatomy, check. Asana instruction, check. Yoga history, check. All that stuff is there, and it's given to you in full by the best. Gianna Purcell, Kathy Durham, Erin Frank, Kiley Enmark. These women are wise, strong, nurturing, experienced, and here to give. They believe in all that yoga is and all that it can be. They live it by bravely embracing their humanity and inviting others to do the same. Each one on their own is a force. Together, they are magic.

These women. These women, and special guests, and your fellow trainees, and, YOU. That's what makes this training. You can't know all this experience has to give before you get there. You have to go, to get it.

I hope you do go. And I hope somewhere along the way, I'll get to meet you, and hear about it, and maybe I'll share a little of my story as well. Cause we'll be family then--we'll be linked, inextricably, because of this great thing we took a chance on. This thing makes our world bigger--it makes us believe in ourselves, and in each other. It's a great thing. It's a yoga teacher training, and it's so much more. You should go. I really hope you go.

Gianna Purcell

Aching with back and joint pain, Gianna followed a friend’s recommendation and took her first yoga class and ended two years of sedentary living.  After just a few weeks of practice, her pain dropped; within a year, she was off all medications (ADHD meds, antidepressants and sleeping pills); at two years she began advanced asana training; and by year three she certified as a teacher. Thirsty to know, she went full time studying, teaching and practicing the 26 + 2 series and Ashtanga yoga.

Kathy Durham

Kathy’s interest in yoga began as a personal mission to heal her daily battle with anxiety and depression without using medication. She was invited to a Bikram Yoga class in 2004 where she embarked on a life long journey to wellness. From the first breath, she found security, freedom, relief, and support. Bikram Yoga Teacher Training soon followed in the Spring of 2005. This channeled a new radiant being to emerge and blossom in the years to come. She walked out more confident, more energetic, more alive and more true to herself.
