Aching with back and joint pain, Gianna followed a friend’s recommendation and took her first yoga class and ended two years of sedentary living. After just a few weeks of practice, her pain dropped; within a year, she was off all medications (ADHD meds, antidepressants and sleeping pills); at two years she began advanced asana training; and by year three she certified as a teacher. Thirsty to know, she went full time studying, teaching and practicing the 26 + 2 series and Ashtanga yoga. She sees more clearly by the light of her teachers: Mary Jarvis, Emmy Cleaves, and Leslie Kaminoff. Gianna is a Bikram certified teacher, a 500-hour Yoga alliance certified teacher, and teaches meditation, yin and vinyasa in addition to the 26+2 series.
Gianna has competed in international asana championships, placing first regionally and nationally and second internationally. She currently judges for the USA Yoga Asana Championships. She continues to train to improve both her practice and her teaching. “My goal with competing was never to beat the other yogis. My objective is challenge. In challenging my physical practice, my knowledge of the body and postures greatly improves allowing me to better help my students in their asana and greater yoga journey.”
As 105F’s Principal Instructor, Gianna focuses on sharing information that deepens the understanding of what we teach and how best to teach it. She has guided the realization of 105F’s burgeoning class offerings (Smart 60 and Next Level 90 intermediate series and specialty workshops). Gianna runs 105F’s teacher development program, 26+2 Teacher Training, intermediate asana class teacher training, advanced classes, and workshops worldwide.

RULES FOR 105F CHILDCARE
Maximum Capacities. At any one time, the maximum number of children allowed in Childcare is six (6), of whom two (2) may be aged less than twelve months old.
Fees: $7 per child for 60-minute class; $10 per child for 90-minute class.
REGISTRATION and SIGN-IN
Sign up for first childcare session by emailing childcare@105F.com. You will be charged the childcare fee upon reservation. If you do not show up for reservation, you will still be charged for the visit.
Please sign a 105F Childcare Waiver and Emergency Contact form prior to the child’s first admittance.
You should make a Reservation via childcare@105F.com. Please email us prior to your first visit. After that, you may reserve a spot by email or online registration.
Arrival. Please arrive at least 15 minutes prior to class and be sure to introduce yourself and your child to the Childcare provider. Provide any special instructions needed. Since we have a limited capacity, your reserved spot may be given away if you have not arrived (or called to say your arrival is imminent) by 5 minutes prior to class start time.
Parent on premises. You must remain in the 105F facility at all times while your child is in the Childcare room.
Your child must be at least six (6) weeks old to be admitted.
For infants that cannot sit up, please bring them in their car seat.
For infants under one year, please register a spot with us 24 hours in advance.
SICK AND INCONSOLABLE CHILDREN
Sick children. Visibly sick children will not be permitted. Prohibitive symptoms include but are not limited to: runny nose with yellow or green mucus, fever, wet cough, pink eye, rashes, etc.
Inconsolable children. If any child is inconsolable for over 10 minutes, the Parent will be pulled from class to provide consolation or may be asked to leave with refund. This is to ensure an enjoyable experience for other children, staff, and students.
Toys from home are permitted at the staff’s discretion. We recommend bringing activities or toys from home for children over the age of 8 (so long as they do not present a choking hazard).
Lost, stolen or left behind items are not the responsibility of 105F or its staff.
DIAPERING, POTTY TRAINING AND RESTROOMING
Authorization. Parent must authorize Childcare to change diapers.
Supplies. If diapering is permitted, Parent must provide diapers, wipes, and a change of clothes. Diaper bags must also be labeled with child’s name.
Clean diaper at check-in. If a child has a dirty diaper at the time of entering the childcare room, it is the Parent’s responsibility to change the diaper before he /she goes in to take class. Only diapers that become wet or soiled while the child is in the care of the staff will be changed.
Potty-Trainees. If your child is potty-training, please notify the staff during sign-in and bring a change of clothes in case of accident.
Best Practices suggest you bring your child to the restroom immediately before your yoga class and before their Childcare visit to situate both you and your child for a positive, easy experience.
Verbal reprimands only. Childcare staff will use only verbal cues for inappropriate behavior or language.
Parental intervention. Several warnings may result in the Parent being called. If a child is unable to regain proper behavior, the child and Parent may need to leave for the remainder of the day to ensure the safety and environment for the other children, members and staff.

Posture Clinic: Starts Trainees in speaking the 105F Dialogue, in how to guide others through the set-up, action, and exit of each of the 26 postures and 2 breathing exercises. Interspersed feedback will identify effective usage of language and cues. Starting slow and simple, isolating one pose at a time, Posture Clinics gradually progress into sequences of multiple posture presentation. Skill objectives include: competent understanding of posture language and mechanics, confidence in public speaking and teaching, and constructive giving and receiving of feedback.
Practicum: Logically extends the Posture Clinic into preparations for teaching a full, live class. Trainee will start by teaching one posture at a time and then will string postures together by groups (balancing series, spine-strengthening series) in order to calibrate verbal speed, pose spacing, and class timing. Skill objectives include: proper voice projection, real-time corrections, non-reactive teaching techniques, and efficient language.
Teaching Methodology: Delves into key principles and methods to help achieve maximum results with students. Skill objectives include: posture and series continuity, dialogue dissection, mapping your class, feedback philosophy, and didactic responsibilities.
Teaching Techniques: Trainee will identify particular scenarios for addressing individual student potentials and limitations, moving through the room while teaching, prepping students before class, debriefing students after class, and using psychology, humor and stories to convey points.
Anatomy and Physiology: Complements Trainees’ visual and practical understanding of the human body. A series of lectures will illuminate the significance of articulating anatomy, axial anatomy, and the nervous system in helping understand how the muscles, bones, and joints create the postures, how spinal position affords muscular continuity throughout the series, and how information flows throughout the body.
Yoga Philosophy, Lifestyle, and Ethics: Surveys overarching theories underpinning yoga and consonant responsibilities of yoga teacher. Yoga Nidra philosophy and meditation techniques are showcased with supporting review of Raja Yoga, the Signs of Samadhi, and Hatha Yoga Pradipika.
Business of Yoga: Takes a straight look into the yoga business opportunities available to a certified yoga teacher. Basic teaching employment, management considerations, and studio ownership concerns will be presented with success/fail comparisons and eye toward win-win scenarios.
In 2005, Jon’s sister took him to his first class at Wicker Park 105F. After a humbling 90 minutes (and after sitting out more than half the class), he had no idea what hit him. Roughly one year later, he made it in for his second class. Having just transitioned from a very physical to a very sedentary line of work, Jon noticed the class called for the hard work and sweat he’d been associating with useful endeavors. He couldn’t get enough! Gradually, the daily jolt of vitality led to a deeper awareness of how the body works and an understanding of how habits can affect his practice. After moving and changing jobs, the yoga stuck. No matter where he traveled all over the world, there was always a Bikram studio to go to–each with qualities both unique and universal. Jon attended teacher training, and soon thereafter, trained competitively to refine posture mechanics and a sense of the broader virtues: stillness, breath, economy of movement, self acceptance, and through all of those things, self- actualization.
Kathy’s interest in yoga began as a personal mission to heal her daily battle with anxiety and depression without using medication. She was invited to a Bikram Yoga class in 2004 where she embarked on a life long journey to wellness. From the first breath, she found security, freedom, relief, and support. Bikram Yoga Teacher Training soon followed in the Spring of 2005. This channeled a new radiant being to emerge and blossom in the years to come. She walked out more confident, more energetic, more alive and more true to herself. Her dedication to her practice over the years has provided a deep awareness of the great power of yoga and the inherent healing properties it possesses.
From 2005 though 2014, Kathy excelled and ranked nationally at the USA Yoga Competitions. Her regular attendance at teacher trainings, advanced seminars, clinics, and workshops founded a wealth of knowledge and perspective to base her practice and teaching upon. Teachers from the Bikram Yoga Bend and Pure Yoga Austin studios as well as Emmy Cleaves, Ashley Hooper, Jason Winn, Mary Jarvis, Esak Garcia, Lynn Whitlow, Lisa Ingle, Christina Sell, David Swenson, Shelley Washington, close family and friends have given her a wide range of inspiration, mentoring, encouragement, coaching, and camaraderie in her career as a practitioner, teacher, studio manager, and competitor. Each has uniquely contributed to making her live at her highest potential.
Kathy thoughtfully blends principles of the east and west through innovative, inclusive, precise alignment-based connection in her teaching. Her deep interest in the origin of yoga has lead her to diligently study yoga philosophy and Ayurveda. She shares knowledge of yoga asana, philosophy, and teaching methodology as a lead member of the 105F Teacher Training Staff. Kathy teaches all levels: beginning, intermediate, and advanced classes weekly in addition to traveling to lead trainings, retreats, and workshops for teachers and students.
The curriculum breaks down the anatomy of the poses giving possible modifications and further potential for the postures. Yogic philosophy, energy body, meditation techniques, mantra, and more will be covered. Over the course of 12 days you will learn how to teach the intermediate class to all levels of practitioners and how to develop your own sadhana and self practice.
