Gianna Purcell Workshop Weekend

When: January 13th &14th

We are so excited to announce that the one and only, Gianna Purcell, will be back at our 105F studios on January 13th and 14th to lead a series of workshops designed to help you improve your 26+2 practice and to explore the wonderful world of backbending!

SMART 60 & 26+2 ALIGNMENT WORKSHOP

The workshop weekend will kick off at our Lincoln Park studio on Saturday, January 13th where Gianna will teach a comprehensive Smart 60 class based on techniques and theories from the 26+2 postures.  Following class and a short break, Gianna will lead a two-hour, non-heated alignment workshop where she will analyze common themes woven through the traditional 26+2 hot yoga series and provide students with different insight and a new perspective on how to approach their practice.

BACKBENDING WORKSHOP

Healthy spine = healthy life.  The workshop weekend will continue on Sunday, January 14th, where Gianna will lead an all-levels backbending workshop at our South Loop studio.  During this two-hour workshop, students will be guided through various drills to systematically prep their bodies for spine work, will be led through a series of movements to break down common backbend postures, and will learn new tips and techniques to work towards their backbending goals.

About Gianna

Aching with back and joint pain, Gianna followed a friend’s recommendation and took her first yoga class and ended two years of sedentary living.  After just a few weeks of practice, her pain dropped; within a year, she was off all medications; at two years she began advanced asana training; and by year three she certified as a teacher. Thirsty to know more, she went full time studying, teaching and practicing the 26 + 2 series and Ashtanga yoga.  She sees more clearly by the light of her teachers: Mary Jarvis, Emmy Cleaves, and Leslie Kaminoff. Gianna is a Bikram certified teacher, a 500-hour Yoga alliance certified teacher, and teaches meditation, yin, and vinyasa in addition to the 26+2 series.

Gianna has competed in international asana championships, placing first regionally and nationally and second internationally.  She currently judges for the USA Yoga Asana Championships. She continues to train to improve both her practice and her teaching. “My goal with competing was never to beat the other yogis. My objective is challenge. In challenging my physical practice, my knowledge of the body and postures greatly improves allowing me to better help my students in their asana and greater yoga journey.”

Gianna runs 105F’s 26+2 Teacher Training and also leads intermediate asana class teacher training, advanced classes, and workshops worldwide.
